Automated Crossing

Cross-SAFE Gates with Actuator Kit
The above drawing shows a crossing used by vehicles and pedestrians. The Cross-SAFE Gates have the Actuator Kits fitted so they open and close automatically depending on whether a pedestrian or a vehicle is in the area. The sensor system used to detect vehicles can be either the Dedicated Detection Sensor or the Motion Sensor (Mass). There are 2 ways that this crossing can be operated;

Option 1 (Vehicle Priority)
This option provides vehicle priority which means the Cross-SAFE Gates are normally closed. When a pedestrian is wanting to cross, they press the “Activate Crossing” button. If the sensors don’t detect any vehicles the Yellow LED lights start flashing and the gates open to allow the pedestrians to cross. When the sensors on the crossing confirm that there are no pedestrians, the gates close and the Yellow LED lights turn off, allow vehicle access. When a vehicle is detected by the sensors, the Red LED lights are activated and if a pedestrian presses the “Activate Crossing” button, the Yellow LED lights will activate, but system will not allow the gates to open until the vehicle is longer being detected.

Option 2 (Pedestrian Priority)
This option provides pedestrian priority which means the Cross-SAFE Gates are normally open. When a vehicle is detected by the sensors, the Red LED lights activate and the gates close. Once the vehicle is longer detected in the area, the gates open and the Red LED lights turn off, allowing pedestrian access. If a pedestrian is crossing, the Yellow LED lights are activated for around 3-5 seconds (adjustable) to provide a warning that pedestrians are crossing. If a vehicle is detected while a pedestrian is crossing, the Red LED lights are activated, but the gates will not close until the system has confirmed that there are no pedestrians crossing.

Cross-SAFE Gates with Actuator Kit & Boom Gate
The above drawing is similar to the one at the top, but has a boom gate added for additional control. The controls remain the same for either Pedestrian or Vehicle priority, and the Cross-SAFE Gates are altered to open and close on the same side to create a barrier for approaching vehicles.
